Web Design in Your Site
Some things to know

One of the most if not THE most important aspect of design in your site is the navigation. The navigation should be simple and easy for your visitor. Be aware that java applets do NOT always work and therefore it is necessary to put text links on every page as well if you use them.  If you want your visitors to be able to print information from your site do not use frames. Search engines do not all like frames either. You can accomplish almost the same look with other programming. I think all of us like flash, but here again Search Engines DON'T. Some people still do not have browsers that support it either so unless you have an NON-Flash part of your site, you will lose those visitors. Sites totally built in Flash will not be successfully found by the search engines, so if you are depending on a lot of your traffic from search engines do not look to program your site in Flash. There are elements of flash that can be used and not effect your placement with the search engines.  Color, graphics and animation can make or break a site. Link colors, text and background colors can not always be seen the same in different browsers. Graphics and pictures are good for visual effect, as long as it is not too much and bogs down the page. Animation as well can slow down a page and too much of that can sometimes be annoying to visitors. Not all fonts can be seen by everyone, so if you like a specific font that is not universal, it is best to make your titles or only a portion of a page out of it in the form of a gif. If you want to know if you have good pictures.. just go to the AOL browser. AOL blurs just about everything, so if it looks good there your programmer has done a GOOD JOB.. sometimes BETTER than good. We use pictures that you may have available or depending on each site can be available to take pictures for the site.

We try to go by these little tips in our designing. If you are interested in having us program your site or i
f you have an existing website and need help or updates or have any questions about your site, please feel free to contact us. Here is a list of things you will need in starting your website.

  • What Domain Name would you like to use. Try to pick a name with your name or some keyword that is important to you, while still keeping it as short as possible. (Have some back up ideas in case the domain you want is not available).

  • Do you have a pamphlet for your business? The framework for the site can often designed or at least started from a pamphlet or any other advertising you have done for your business.

  • If not, make a list of all aspects of your business which you would like to be presented on your website.

  • You should have a logo, some graphics and/or pictures to put on your site. If you do not, we can sometimes help you with your logo and graphics. We do also provide photography services depending on the situation.

  • Do you have items for sale? If so, how many?

  • What would you like to be found under in the search engines? Make a list of as many keywords as you can think of.

We look forward to working with you on your website. You can View some of our websites here.
